SHruti Nair
Following her passion for music, Shruti began her musical journey with formal training in Carnatic Vocal. Having been brought up in different parts of India, Shruti had opportunities to learn from some of the well-established instructors including Shekhar J Tanjorkar and Salim Ragamalika.
As a firm believer in continuous learning, Shruti wanted to pursue her vocal training in Hindustani music and finds herself fortunate when ‘Ganheera’ Hema Upasani, daughter of renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist Pt. Nath Neralkar, accepted her as a shishya (student). Shruti completed her Sangeet Praveshika from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya to pursue her plans for graduation. Along with vocals, Shruti has also been trained in Carnatic violin and Western Keyboard and completed her Grade 5 Electronic Keyboard from Trinity College, London.
Shruti has been performing in a variety of Western and Classical musical events, of which the stages shared with Hema Upasani stays the most memorable to her. Some of her key well-received performances include being among the top contestants in “Voice of Mumbai - 2007” and “Gandharva Sangeetham - 2007”, a pioneering music reality show that pays tribute to Dr. KJ Yesudas, the ‘Gana Gandharvan’ of Indian music.
With a strong desire to follow her passion, Shruti plans to continue engaging herself in learning and teaching music.
